I teach as young as 5yrs up to Adults, grades 1-8 of the Rock School of drumming. I use clicks and the latest backing tracks along with cutting edge teaching materials. I combine this with my knowledge and training for many years with my good friends Mr Thomas Lang and Peter James who are some of the greatest teachers to date.
I am also part of the Hudson Music Tip teaching group which is all about using the latest teaching resources to get the best from your students. Hudson Music have the most experienced drummers in the world on there site from Dave Weckl, Steve Smith to Thomas Lang who are the top drummers in the Music Business to name a few!
“Mr Mayhem has been my drum teacher for the past few years, and in this time his innovative and creative teaching techniques gave me the basic rudiments needed to become a successful drummer. His teaching style is very flexible, which allowed me to chose the topic areas we studied, whether it was a specific style of drumming or the more broad techniques used generally, and gave me much more freedom in my learning. I would recommend Mr Mayhem to all first-time drummers, and even the more advanced ones, the relaxed environment and great teaching flare will surely add to any drummers skill, advanced or not.”
Mark – you took me on, undid all those bad techniques I’d built up from previous teaching and made sure I understood and nailed the rudiments. Now I practice them all the time!! You also taught me what it means to be ‘in the pocket’, which is where every good drummer needs to be. All this really helped build my confidence knowing I’ve got a great foundation. You know it works when you’re jamming and the bands says “yeah that was tight!”. Cheers mate, keep it up! Mark C (aka “The Doc”)
MARK MAYHEM has been teaching our 10 year old son Hugh Bailey, (now Boo Hailey ROCK DRUMMER, well nearly) for 2 years. Because Mark is a session musician as well as a teacher he believes that teaching music should be fun and not just an academic exercise and so not only provides the inspiration and stimulus for Hugh to learn but also makes the lessons enjoyable as well. However Mark also gets across the disciplined approach needed to be a good drummer and is able to keep temperamental rock stars on task when needed.
